MOST RIDICULOUS COMMENT EVER

I get a lot of spam comments on some of my older posts, many from businesses looking to take advantage of me to boost their SEO. Most of them don't make any sense and I just delete them and carry on.

But my new Australian friend Tom Cave, though, not only wanted to capitalize on a free opportunity to promote his business on my old metal roof post, but he also felt compelled to give a friendly suggestion:

Thanks for your advice, Tom. I was actually JUST thinking this whole place could use a little sprucing up.

Instead, I am now starting a campaign to hyperlink your business URL to "worst roofer in Brisbane" all over the internet.

  1. Wow. What a doof. I turned comments on posts older than two weeks so I have to approve them. It helps me catch all the spam.

    1. That's a good idea... I don't want to moderate all comments, but that I could handle. So much spam!!!

  2. I replaced my roof three weeks ago and posted photos on my blog. Now I am been getting comments almost every day from roofers trying to promote their own businesses. I'm getting pretty tired of their "compliments" on the roof that demean DIYers and make it clear they think only professional roofers have any business touching shingles. I finally started moderating the comments before they are published. Hopefully you won't have to go to that extreme.

PS - Tom is a jerk

  4. That comment is probably just some "form letter" and doesn't actually relate to your content. I get comments like that all the time and I just delete them.
